The Nomination Committee is delighted to announce that following a discernment and recruitment process Stephen Savage has been appointed as our new Rector. In March 2006 Stephen was appointed as Rector to the Anglican Parish of Claremont /Chigwell. The Parish later became known as Edge Anglican. Recently Edge amalgamated with the Parishes of Brighton and New Norfolk and after six years of co-operating together it is now the Edge Anglican Network. Stephen has served as a member of various Diocesan committees and boards including the Christian Formation Committee, Anglican Camping Tasmania, Mission Afloat, Anglican Health and Welfare, the National Board of ABM. He is a current member of Diocesan Council, and the Bishop’s ordination advisory committee.   Stephen is a volunteer Chaplain at the Hobart International Airport, has been a Canon of St David’s Cathedral and is currently the Archdeacon of the Derwent and Southeast Ministry District. He loves teaching the Bible and has a passion to see the church be all that it can be in Christ. He enjoys gardening, 4 wheel driving, soccer, good music, good coffee and spending time with Margaret. Stephen and his wife Margaret have four adult children plus two extras and are adjusting to a new phase of life where everyone has moved out of home. Family is a central part of life despite distance.   Margaret works with Anglicare in a diverse role, but mainly it is one of encouraging the church to work in partnership with Anglicare; and care for people who are disadvantaged. Margaret loves God and praying, has a passion for encouraging mums with young children, really enjoys any kind of craft and sewing; she thinks coffee is pretty good and Stephen is too.   Stephen will be inducted by the Bishop of Tasmania, Richard Condie on Thursday 11th August.
